pizza sauce 1

I made this pizza sauce to go with my cheesy garlic bread a few days ago. It made about four cups of sauce so I had plenty left over for more bread and pizzas. I hope you will appreciate the flavors of garlic, basil, oregano, and Italian seasoning. I am a big fan of fresh garlic verses dried, so I minced 2 cloves and simmered it in the olive oil before adding it to the sauce. Please try it for yourself and share your thoughts! Enjoy!

2- 28 oz. cans diced tomatoes
12 oz. can of tomato paste
2 fresh garlic cloves minced
2 t. oregano
2 t. basil
2 t. garlic salt
1 t. garlic powder
4 t. sugar
4 T. olive oil
1 t. Italian seasoning
1-2 T. Parmesan cheese

First heat the olive oil in a shallow frying pan on low-medium heat. Mince your garlic and add it to the olive oil to a simmer while stirring. Add the remainder of the seasonings. Continue to stir. Continue to simmer and stir until the aroma of the seasonings fills your kitchen and the seasonings are well incorporated with the oil. Add the diced tomatoes, paste and Parmesan cheese. Cook over low heat for about 15 minutes while stirring regularly. Remove from the heat and allow the sauce to cool. Blend the sauce in a food processor for a smooth and well seasoned sauce or leave it chunky if you like.
