PHILLY CHEESE BURGERS WITH PROVOLONE

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb. hamburger

1 egg

1 t. garlic salt

1 t. garlic powder

1/2 t. black pepper

1 green bell pepper

1 large sweet onion

4 T. unsalted butter

3 slices provolone

1 pack of Sesame seed hamburger buns

1 bottle Worcestershire sauce

1 bottle of A-1 Steak Sauce

salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

First slice the green pepper and onion thin cutting them length wise.  Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a frying pan and place your sesame seed buns in with the center of the bun facing down in the pan.  Warm the buns in the butter over medium heat for about three minutes until they begin to brown around the edges.  Remove the buns and set them aside.  Then weigh out 1 pound of ground hamburger on a scale.  Add 1 egg, garlic powder, garlic salt and pepper.  Mix well with your hands and form into 3 (5-6 ounce) hamburgers.  Place them in the same shallow frying pan that you just used to brown the buns.  Sprinkle the Worcestershire sauce generously over the burgers while cooking them over medium heat.  Cook them uncovered for 6 minutes while flattening them with a spatula to form three uniform burgers that are no longer raw in the center but cooked thoroughly.  Shut the stove off.  Place the provolone on top of the burgers and cover the frying pan with a lid until the cheese is melted.  In a separate frying pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter to simmer the vegetables over low to medium heat for about five minutes just until the peppers and onions become tender but not mushy soft.  Sprinkle the pepper and onion slices with salt and pepper while they simmer.  Spread A-1 Sauce over the top and bottom bun.  Place your burger on the bottom bun and mound your vegetables on the top bun and put it all together!  Yum!  Enjoy!
